Story Replies & Live Status
Use the limited Story-reply keyword path, understand why Live is unavailable, and choose supported alternatives.
Story replies are limited; Live is unavailable
A text reply to an Instagram Story can enter the message path and match an existing Diem keyword. It uses the same keyword and listings as comments and inbound DMs, and it does not post a public comment reply.
Model fields and older backend code are not proof of a supported feature. A channel is supported only when sellers can configure it, observe its status, test it, and recover from failure in the current product.
Use a supported alternative
| Goal | Current alternative |
|---|---|
| Respond to interest on a post or reel | Ask followers to comment a keyword on a normal post and use Comment Automations. |
| Respond to a Story | Ask for a simple text reply that exactly matches an existing keyword, then test it. Keep a manual reply ready. |
| Let followers ask privately | Ask them to send the keyword in an Instagram DM. |
| Share several offers | Publish the offers and manual links on your public Link Page. |
| Promote during a live session | Pin or speak the Link Page URL and handle replies manually. |
How to treat older marketing and release notes
Some existing pages and historical release notes mention Stories, Live monitoring, or generalized automation across all Instagram engagement. Treat those statements as stale until a current guide, seller control, and tested release explicitly restore the capability.
What must exist before this status changes
- A visible seller control for enabling and scoping the trigger.
- A clear definition of which Story or Live events are supported.
- A successful test from a separate Instagram account.
- Delivery, failure, retry, and rate-limit visibility.
- Updated privacy, marketing, documentation, and automated regression coverage.
