Influencers & Referrals
Invite partners, configure percentage commission and listing scope, attribute Link Page sales, and understand payout states.

Separate the business and creator views
Open Influencers in the seller app. A business uses Manage Influencers to invite partners, define terms, limit listings, and review performance. A person who has been invited opens Influencers; a dual-role user chooses My Partnerships when that tab is shown.
| Role | Current controls |
|---|---|
| Business owner or admin | Set percentage defaults and agreements; invite, pause, resume, edit, or remove an influencer; review sales and payouts. |
| Other workspace member | View partnership information. Payout-agreement and influencer mutations require owner or admin access. |
| Influencer | Accept a partnership, view allowed listings and terms, connect Stripe, add an allowed offer to a personal Link Page, and create a simplified keyword. |
Set defaults or a reusable payout agreement
Open Influencer Settings
In Manage Influencers, choose the gear button labeled Influencer Settings.
Set the account default
Enter a Revenue Percentage from 0 through 100, then choose Save Defaults.
Create an agreement when terms repeat
Under Payout Agreements, choose Create Payout Agreement. Give it a required name, optional description, a revenue percentage, and optionally make it the default agreement.
Review percentage precedence
A direct percentage override wins, then a live payout agreement, then the account default, then zero. A blank custom field can therefore inherit another level.
Revenue percentage accepts 0–100. An eligible commission is calculated from the listing base price and reduces seller proceeds; it does not increase the buyer total.
Invite one or more influencers
Choose Invite Influencer
Enter one or more email addresses. Separate multiple addresses with commas, spaces, semicolons, or new lines, then confirm every normalized address.
Choose the terms
Use the account default, select a named payout agreement, or enter a custom override. Review the visible summary before sending.
Choose listing intent
All Listings is selected by default. Clear it only when the partner should see a specific set, then select at least one permitted item.
Send and inspect the result
The batch result reports how many invitations were sent or failed and can show a reason for each failed address. Resolve failures before assuming everyone was invited.
The invitation email uses a sign-in-and-accept link that is intended to remain valid for seven days. Diem can send reminder emails while the invitation is pending. An user already signed in as the exact invited identity can also open Influencers, choose My Partnerships when that tab is shown, then open Pending Invitations and choose Accept.
Manage lifecycle, access, and performance
The management table shows name or invited email, status, commission, listing access, sales, revenue, earned amount, and available actions. Choose a name to open commission settings and payout history.
| Status | Meaning and action |
|---|---|
| Pending | The invitation has not been accepted. Verify the address, then use Resend invite only when needed. Pause and Resume are unavailable until acceptance. |
| Active | The relationship can qualify for new referral attribution on allowed listings. |
| Paused | New active referral attribution should stop. Resume only after resolving the reason for the pause. |
| Removed | New active attribution stops. Reinviting the same email can reactivate the identity with fresh scope, agreement, reminder, joined, and user fields; existing queued ledger obligations can continue. |
- Use Edit commission or the detail page to save a direct percentage override. Compare the direct value, assigned agreement, and account default because business table and detail summaries do not always present the same configuration layer.
- Review the Listings count and original invitation scope before sharing a campaign URL. To replace that scope, remove and reinvite the creator, then deliberately choose the fresh terms and listings.
- Use Pause for a reversible stop to new active referrals. Use Remove only after reviewing unpaid and refunded activity; the app's cannot-be-undone wording is inaccurate.
- On the detail page, compare Payout History with the related sale, commission, and status before describing a transfer as paid.
Accept a partnership and prepare an offer
Accept with the invited identity
Sign out of other Diem accounts or use a private window. Open the newest invitation with the invited email. If accepting from the app, open Influencers; choose My Partnerships when that tab is shown, then choose Pending Invitations → Accept.
Review the business
Expand the linked business and verify the commission terms, allowed listings, total earned, pending, and paid amounts.
Set up payouts
Choose Set Up Payouts and finish Stripe Connect. Without a connected payout account, earned commissions cannot be transferred.
Add an allowed listing
Choose Link Page beside an allowed offer. Diem adds it to the first personal section or creates My Listings.
Publish separately
Open the personal Link Page editor, set or verify the username, inspect the section, and choose Publish. Adding a partner listing does not publish the page.
Use the public Link Page for attribution
Open the published personal Link Page and choose the exact partner listing. Diem creates a signed grant for that listing. The Keyword shortcut does not carry a supported referral grant and remains non-attributed.
Understand referral attribution and payout timing
When an active creator’s public Link Page opens an allowed Diem listing, the offer URL carries an opaque signed referral grant into checkout. The API verifies the signature, expiry, relationship state, business owner, published listing ownership, and listing scope again. For an eligible delivered sale, Diem calculates percentage commission from the base price and reduces seller proceeds. The buyer total does not increase.
Verify attribution
Match the creator, business owner, published listing, invitation scope, delivered sale, buyer total, and written percentage. A page view, keyword path, or arbitrary copied ref value is not proof of an attributed sale.
Wait for a delivered sale
Diem creates the commission payout record only after the purchase is settled and durably delivered. It begins Pending; this does not mean a transfer has started.
Check payout prerequisites
Transfer processing is disabled unless a deployment operator enables the payout gate. It also requires a payout-ready creator Stripe account and enough available platform USD balance. The seller interface cannot enable the deployment gate.
Follow the ledger status
An enabled scheduled worker checks a batch of up to 25 records about every 30 minutes and continues past records that are not ready. Pending can be deferred; Failed uses bounded backoff retries; stale Processing leases are recovered.
Reconcile refunds and disputes
A full refund or full-charge dispute creates durable commission recovery. A queued commission is cancelled and a completed transfer is reversed. Partial or overlapping cases, ambiguous Stripe state, and exhausted retries move to Reconciliation required. Verify Diem and Stripe before treating the commission as returned.
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Recorded after a delivered attributed sale and waiting for the deployment gate, Stripe readiness, balance, or its next scheduled attempt. |
| Processing | Claimed by a worker under a short lease while the Stripe transfer is attempted. |
| Completed | The Stripe transfer identifier was recorded. Only this state counts as Paid. |
| Failed | An attempt failed and may retry with increasing delay, up to five attempts. |
| Cancelled | A queued payout was cancelled, including when a related sale is refunded before transfer. |
| Reversed | A previously completed transfer was reversed after a refund or correction. |
| Reconciliation required | Automatic processing cannot safely choose another action; an operator must compare the ledger and Stripe. |
